Changan History
Changan Automobile is one of China’s four major automobile groups, with a history of 159 years, 37 years of car building, 14 production bases and 33 vehicle and engine factories around the world. In 1958, the company produced China’s first jeep, the “Yangtze River” type 46, with a total of 1,390 units produced at the end of 1963, it filled the gap in China’s automotive industry. In 1984, Changan produced its first batch of small cars and officially entered the automotive industry. In 2003, Changan established its design center in Italy, stretching the R&D capacity globally. In 2009, it became one the four top automobile groups in China. In 2014, the cumulative production and sales of Changan’s Chinese brand vehicles exceeded 10 million, making it the first Chinese brand to enter the “ten million club”. In 2016, the annual sales volume of Changan exceeded 3 million. In 2020, the cumulative production and sales of Changan’s Chinese brand vehicles exceeded 19 million.
